Uniforms worn by the second Rhode Island Detatched Militia

 The Militia uniform issued was the Burnside Blouse, Gray pants and Blue Kepie worn from the Swearing in of the Regiment on June 1861.till they where issued frock coats in October 1861.

In October 1861 the 2nd Rhode Island was issued frock coats,cartrage boxes with strapes and eagles. this uniform was worn till early June 1862.

The second Rhode Island detached Militia went into the federal uniform in the middle of June 1862 and stayed in the Federal Standard for the rest of the War.

The Standard cold weather coat for all foot soldiers was the Great Coat this coat fell below the knee it also had a cape that the men when sleeping at night would pull it over there heads to keep it warm.

The second Rhode Island Detached Militia Officers wore three types of Uniforms the most common was the Federal issue of the day dark blue Frock coat ,dark blue pants red sash and kepie. the second also wore the Militia uniform Burnside Blouse. As well as the blue frock coat and gray pants.
