Our group is dedicated to portraying a Federal regiment during the American Civil War. We try to the best of our abilities to be as period correct and as authentic as possible. Our members attain a deep interest in the American Civil War, and we feel that it is important to realistically portray the regiment and the lifestyle of the Federal soldiers.

Our members learn realistic drill and marching maneuvers from the 1860’s. Our uniforms are highly authentic, a result from on-going research to assure they are correct. The 2nd RIDM is a wonderful and enriching educational experience that honors and remembers our countries veterans.

The 2nd RIDM takes part in many reenactments and other activities yearly, with the reenacting season starting in the spring and ending in the fall. The 2nd is hoping to grow and travel to larger reenactments throughout the country with our parent unit the 2nd Rhode Island Company B in New Jersey, who are standing members of the reenacting organization the U.S Volunteers.
